Media Release – NSW Police Force responds to Commission’s Operation Mantus Report

The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission has published the NSW Police Force’s response to recommendations made in the Commission’s Operation Mantus Report including recommendations concerning police interviewing of young persons in custody, management of young persons in custody and the use of body worn video by operational plain clothes police.

The NSW Police Force provided the Commission with responses to the Commission’s 19 recommendations including 3 directed at the NSW Attorney General.

The NSW Police Force supported 3 of the Commission’s recommendations and expressed support in principle for a further 8 recommendations.

The NSW Police Force did not support 4 of the recommendations and noted that the remaining 4 recommendations were under consideration.

The Commission is considering the response by the NSW Police Force to the recommendations for the purpose of s 146 Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016, the effect of which was summarised at paragraph 5.2 of the Operation Mantus Report.
