Your privacy

Anyone can make a report to us about NSW Police Force or NSW Crime Commission serious misconduct or serious maladministration.

We will consider all the information that we receive.

We may use your information to:

  • help in reviewing the Police or Crime Commission handling of a complaint
  • use as part of an investigation
  • link up to other information that will help us to identify broader issues of serious misconduct and serious maladministration
  • identify wider trends and patterns that can help prevent serious misconduct and serious maladministration in the future

Any information provided to the LECC is treated carefully and confidentially.

If you’re worried about your privacy, you can make a complaint anonymously. But it may be harder for us to assess or investigate an anonymous complaint.

For this reason, it’s a good idea to give us a way to contact you. If you do give us your contact details, we’ll let you know that we’ve received your complaint. We’ll also tell you what action we decide to take.

If your complaint is a public interest disclosure, your matter will be subject to greater protections and restrictions. See what a public interest disclosure is.
