The LECC Act places primary responsibility for the investigation of misconduct involving the NSWPF and NSWCC upon those agencies. The LECC independently ensures misconduct matters are dealt with appropriately by the NSWPF and NSWCC.

Media Release - Monitoring of Critical Incidents at Wickham Newcastle

On 7 April 2023 a critical incident was declared by the NSW Police Force (NSWPF) in Wickham, Newcastle. The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) was notified of the critical incidents by the NSWPF.

The NSWPF are investigating the circumstances of the incidents and the investigations will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command. The LECC is independently monitoring the investigation of each critical incident under Part 8 of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016 to ensure public confidence in the investigation.
