How to make a complaint

We encourage people and public officials to report suspected serious misconduct or serious maladministration involving the NSW Police Force or NSW Crime Commission.

Your report will help us to deal with the conduct and prevent misconduct in the future.

You can make a complaint anonymously. If you do give us your contact details, we’ll let you know that we’ve received your complaint. We’ll also tell you what action we decide to take.

Our secure online form is an easy and quick way to report the behaviour you’re concerned about.

We also welcome other information that could help us do what we do. You can find out how to make this kind of report on our Information page.

Before you report any suspected misconduct or maladministration — understand what kind of matters we can investigate. You can find more information about what serious misconduct covers on the Understand what you can report page.

NSW Public officials should also check the protections for public officials under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022

Public interest disclosures

If you are a NSW public official and you have information about members of the NSW Police or the NSW Crime Commission engaging in corrupt conduct, maladministration or serious waste of public money you can make a public interest disclosure to the LECC under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (NSW) (the PID Act).

The PID Act gives legal protection to people who work in the NSW public sector when they report serious wrongdoing. It means they can make a report without fear of being sued for defamation or other action as payback for making the report.
